I haven’t been posting enough OLDSCHOOL RAVE anthems, so lets change that. Since it’s getting closer and closer to this years 4/20, I think I should also make this a WEED JAM. I give you an absolute classic by one of the greatest acts in Rave history, the RAT PACK.
They are DJ LIPMASTER MARK and MC EVENSON ALLEN, and together they are pioneers of Rave music that continue to perform at most Oldschool Rave events around the UK. I had the opportunity to see them live at last years BANGFACE WEEKENDER, and it was, honestly, one of the top 10 highlights of my afterlife. They had such amazing command of the audience and built a true, oldschool vibe. That kind of vibe that you’d never understand unless you’ve felt it yourself. The kind of vibe that makes younger ravers roll their eyes when you talk about it because they have no clue what you’re talking about and there’s no way to describe it in a way that they’d understand.
Anyways, before I start rambling like an old man, back to the choon. SEARCHIN’ FOR MY RIZLA is one of those few songs that are actually easiest to find on vinyl, thanx to Rat Pack’s efforts to continually re-press their back catalogue. It also helps that there continued presence in the UK Rave Scene has kept their tunes in demand amongst multiple generations of ravers. While it is possible to find digital copies of the track, it’s hard, and I certainly haven’t got one, so the above download is a VINYL RIP. Hope you don’t mind.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I can feel another rush coming on.
