KICKS & SNARES & TICKLES & ZOMBIES

Most Z JAMZ naturally fall into the aggressive side of EDM. Ocassionally, however, you do find one with a more chilled out vibe.

TICKLES

tickles

A mysterious figure, residing somewhere in the UK. Very little is known about him. Even his name is unclear. You’ll find releases, by him, credited to “TICKLES”, “Mr Tickle”, and “Mr Tickles”. While he’s not very well known publically, he’s created a buzz amongst the community of UK GARAGE producers, which has gained him support from some very established names, resulted in some high profile REMIXES, and seen his productions get dropped in the trend setting FABRIC LIVE series, aswell as RADIO 1’s ESSENTIAL MIX. Possibly his greatest accolades to date come in the form of 2 releases on the prestigious ROSKA KICKS & SNARES label. Tickles also co-owns his own label, called MUTANT YOUTH. And that’s all I know about him. A strange character for sure. I suppose I’m not surprised that he’s contributed quite a unique composition to the Z JAM canon.

Like so many, his tribute to the Living Dead is titled “ZOMBIE”. But unlike his peers, Tickles delivers a track that rides a fine line between ELECTRO HOUSE and GARAGE. It’s quite minimal, focusing on rhythm, rather than melody. A very FUNKY ride, indeed. No wonder it caught ROSKA‘s ear.
