ZOMBIES and ROCK N’ ROLL seem to go together naturally. That’s why you’ll find quite a few Z JAMZ within the ROCK category, here on DKGL. Tonight, I’m adding a new addition to the Zombie Rock roster. It was the opening track to my set at Detroit’s annual massive Zombie dance party, DEAD WORLD, and it comes care of…
This band is made up of 2 brothers, originally called “The Knuckle Heads”. They’re both multi-instrumentalists, and they also do a lot of their own producing. Born and raised in New Orleans, they were left homeless after Hurricane Katrina. Upon re-locating to LA, things really started to take off. Their music only loosely fits into the Rock category, due to their traditional band arrangement. Their sound, which they call “Alt Rap”, strongly incorporates elements of HIP HOP and EDM. The diversity of this sound enabled them to perform along side many different artists, and also made them a popular festival act, leading to heavy touring, which has resulted in a very wide spread fan base, throughout North America. Currently, The Knux are working on a new project, titled KTWN, and they have plans to bring their high energy live act over seas.
The song, DEAD WORLD, focuses on a prominent guitar hook, and easily singable chorus. It’s good, solid POWER POP, with a Hip Hop twist. Lyrically, the track has everything to do with affirmation of life, and nothing to do with Zombies, but it’s found its way into the Z JAM canon, nevertheless.
