The music industry, in North America, is very sensationalistic. While the UK is certainly not without its own grandeur, it’s a place where an artist can find and develop a unique approach to music, and receive notable recognition for it, without a lot of promo pics, music vids, and other “image” based promotional elements. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a difficult thing to achieve, but it’s nearly impossible over here.
One of the proud members of the more low-key community of London based producers. An online search of his name won’t yield a large amount of media for you to sift through. What you WILL find is a collection of BASS music, with plenty of GARAGE elements. Harikiri’s productions are deep, with an unusual focus on distortion, and a heavy Asian influence, giving his songs a twist that really stands out. The music speaks loud enough on its own. Loud enough to see Harikiri tour Europe and Asia, and gain the support of some key individuals in the EDM world, while still remaining a mysterious figure, in the eyes of the public.
Keeping with the theme of mystery is UTADA, a rare bootleg REMIX of a gorgeous song by Japanese-American singer/song writer, UTADA. Her gorgeous vocals are warped and combined with Garage percussion, and drenched in heavy distortion, somewhat reminiscent of early DUBSTEP. I’m fairly certain this blog is the only place you’re gonna find this one in a downloadable form. Do enjoy!

That original Utada version is incredible too.
