There’s something about October that invokes my love of BASS music. Maybe the falling leaves, darker evenings, and cooling weather say it’s time to get low down n dirty. Where summer is more about epic, pretty build ups, fall brings forth a craving for big, heavy drops. Maybe it’s just because I love Bass, and October is my favourite month of the year. After all, in Canada, it’s the month that contains both Thanks Giving AND Halloween. Here’s 5 selections, involving Dead Kids, to get you Bass headz ready for each holiday, divided up accordingly.
GRIMES – GENESIS (EXPENDABLE YOUTH & KRUSHA REMIX)
One for the dinner hosting JUNGLIST. Gorgeous and uplifting vocal vibes meet with an oldschool tearout of percussion. The ORIGINAL GRIMES JAM is one of my favourite song from the past 2 years, and I absolutely adore this version, by 2 fellow Canadians, no less.
THE SOCIALYTES – WHITE GIRL WASTED
Ladies, I know you’re gonna end up having a few. Caucasian ladies, I know you’re gonna end up having more than a few. I mean, whatever, I sure as hell am too. Here’s one to play while you’re stumbling around after the big dinner.

BENNY KNOX – SOMETHING HAPPENED (HUGSNOTDRUGS DUBSTEP REMIX)
An early, and quite experimental DUBSTEP venture, by Toronto’s HUGSNOTDRUGS, utilizing a creepy sample from EVIL DEAD 2. You should hear the kind of stuff they’re MAKING NOW. What a transformation! Well, this is where they started from.

MICHAEL JACKSON – THRILLER (LUVTEK REMIX)
You won’t find very much TRVP on VINYL, but when it’s a REMIX of the ultimate Z JAM, by The King Of Pop, it deserves to be put on wax. You could seek out a copy of this awesomely rare BOOTLEG RECORD, or just get busy below.
NOBODY – WALKING DEADCORE
HARDCORE isn’t Bass music! Why the hell not? Listen to the power of the big dirty low end on this jam. It wins over this Living Dead Bass lover. How ’bout you???
You Americans can save these jams up for when you’re ready. The rest of the world… pump ’em freely! Happy Basstober, Dead Kids!!!
