If you’re a EURO enthusiast, you probably know more than one tune that features a flamenco guitar riff. Well, here’s the song that did it first, and solidified it as a musical trend…
JAM & SPOON – RIGHT IN THE NIGHT
This power-house of a tune was the first breakthrough hit for the unique collaborations of classically trained composer, JAM EL MAR, and DJ/Producer, MARK SPOON. It was written by famed Euro Dance lyricist, NOSIE KATZMANN, with vocals performed by PLAVKA, who was an in-demand performer, within the European Rave music community, at the time (1993). RIGHT IN THE NIGHT is now anthologized as a vital influence in the development of TRANCE music. What a tune!
While the main hook is based, very closely, on a CLASSICAL FLAMENCO song, titled LEYENDA, it does NOT sample ISAAC ALBENIZ‘s version, as WHOSAMPLEDWHO would have you believe. Rather, it is covered by Jam El Mar, who was a proficient Flamenco guitar player.
All of the above points of interest culminate to make this tune one of great importance within the canons of both Euro Dance, and Trance. If you’re a fan of either genre, you really should have a VINYL RIP of the ORIGINAL 12″. Grab it below.[audio http://deadkidsgetlively.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Right_In_The_Night.mp3]

RIP MARK SPOON. He actually had an interesting influence on my life, which I will get into some other time.
