My good buddy, ROCCO FERRER, once mentioned that some of his all-time favourite tracks are BOOTLEG REMIXES. I have to agree with him there. Some of the best music in the world gets made without permission from the original artists. A Bootleg is often the result of a good producer hearing something they like and getting inspired. Ingenuity is the result. There is always a constant stream of this stuff showing up in my feeds, and a good deal of it comes out of New York. I guess it’s an international hub for great bootlegging. Here’s some of the best Boots to come out of NYC over the past year.
LADY SAW – NO LONG TALKING (COBRA KRAMES REMIX)
CLASSIC DANCEHALL in a New York rework to make your ass TWERK.
NOTORIOUS B.I.G. – 10 CRACK COMMANDMENTS (DJ LIKWID REMIX)
The mysterious DJ LIKWID gives this drug dealing anthem a well deserved refresher.
BEYONCE – DRUNK IN LOVE (FIINESSE x GIP x BRENMAR REMIX)
I detest the original, but dayum, is this JERSEY CLUB REMIX ever DOPE!!! I guess you CAN polish a turd.
9PM COME ON (ATB x AUDIO BASTARDZ) – SIKDUO
Take a lil’ bit of this….
…and a little bit of this….
…leave them with the likes of 2 legendary NYC DJs, and you get this…
SLOB ON MY KNOB – SKINNY FRIEDMAN
Take a CERTIFIED HOOD CLASSIC and then let SKINNY go to work on it.
We’ll do this again in another 365.
